Couples Counseling

As a couples therapist, I offer moderated difficult conversations in a safe space and support you in understanding what your patterns are and how you can treat each other in a healthier and more loving way. Sometimes it can also be about putting your relationship to the test and deciding whether and how you want to continue and improve your relationship. Schema therapy and systemic approaches as well as the principles of Paul Gottman are being offered to help you navigate and solve your couple’s issues.

Couples counseling can help couples to navigate conflicts in a variety of ways:

  1. Improved communication: Couples counseling can help couples to improve their communication skills, which can make it easier to express feelings, needs, and concerns, and to listen actively to one another.
  2. Conflict resolution: Couples counseling can provide couples with tools and strategies for resolving conflicts in a healthy and constructive way. This can help to reduce the frequency and intensity of conflicts, and to build a stronger and more resilient relationship.
  3. Understanding and empathy: Couples counseling can help couples to understand and empathize with one another’s perspective and feelings. This can reduce feelings of isolation and alienation, and help couples to feel more connected and supported.
  4. Identifying and addressing underlying issues: Couples counseling can help couples to identify and address underlying issues that may be contributing to conflicts. This can include issues related to past experiences, family dynamics, or individual emotional and mental health.
  5. Goal setting: Couples counseling can help couples to set goals for their relationship and work towards them together, this can help to improve the relationship and increase satisfaction.
  6. Building trust and intimacy: Couples counseling can help couples to build trust and intimacy, which can deepen their emotional connection and improve the overall quality of their relationship.

It’s important to note that couples counseling isn’t a quick fix and it requires effort and commitment from both partners, but it can be a valuable tool for improving the relationship and resolving conflicts. It’s also important to find a qualified and experienced therapist that fits both partners’ preferences and needs.
